HOUSTON-The Houston Police Department said on Wednesday night that officers who received stolen calls in northeast Houston had discovered hundreds of stolen catalytic converters.

According to HPD, police officers responded to the 4400 block of Lockwood Drive, where they said they found two suspects and "hundreds of stolen catalytic converters."

Authorities said the two suspects were found in a used car parking lot.

It is not clear what charges the suspect will face.

The police said they would check the car parts to see if any original owners could be found, but they said it would be challenging because catalytic converters usually don't have serial numbers or markings to associate them with the vehicles that were taken away.

The police had previously advised car owners to spray paint (using heat-resistant paint) or engrave recognizable information on the catalytic converter, such as the license plate number.

Northeast officials answered Lockwood's 4400 stolen call. Upon arrival, they found two suspects and discovered hundreds of stolen catalytic converters. Investigation follow-up. 202 pic.twitter.com/XX76sy3ve2
